In Japan, DAISO pioneered the use of electrolysis with mercury electrodes. The technological know-how that we acquired from this enabled us to put titanium-based anodes for electrolysis to practical use.
From the latter half of the 1980s, we started to develop anodes for oxygen evolution and are presently supplying our metal electrodes for a wide range of uses from industrial to household. These environmentallyfriendly metal electrodes attracted attention for being lead-free, highly durable, and power efficient. |

Oxygen-evolving electrodes have many uses, such as in steel sheet plating, copper foil manufacturing, metal surface treatment, metal recycling,
liquid waste processing and electrodialysis.
These electrodes have many attractive features including no sludge formation and easy maintenance of the electrolytic bath, as well as an intermediate layer that allows them to withstand long-term use even under severe conditions.

Chlorine-evolving electrodes are used for ion exchange membrane process electrolysis, diluted salt water electrolysis, and electrolysis of seawater. Platinum-iridium oxide or ruthenium oxide is coated to give an excellent performance for chlorine evolution. DAISO electrodes realized superior durability, energy saving and high efficiency in chlorine evolution.

Electrodes for chlorine sterilization through direct electrolysis of drinking water are used in alkali ion and acidic water, and demonstrate higher chlorine generation than platinumplated titanium electrodes. These electrodes use a coating component compliant with Article 257 of the Japan Food Hygiene Law and are used for food washing vessels and water purifiers.

In July 2002, we acquired the metal electrode operations of TDK Corporation, a company with extensive experience in this field, and we constructed new production facilities mainly for household-use electrodes and chlor-alkali electrodes.
Based on our longstanding competitive advantage in steel manufacturing, we have diversified into metal electrode operations for household use. We will continue to provide high-quality products and services in the form of better products and solutions for our metal electrodes. |
